I liked the writing style. This story is a little too focused on how the main character, Kiellen, can absolutely never even think about any kind of sexual interaction with her best friend. A bit unrealistic but I guess some authors can't have the stigma of "contains sexual content". OMGProduct details

I think the author did a great job with this book and it had to take a lot of thought and imagination to come up with the premise of the story and the characters. The SciFi/Fantasy-dystopian genre is not easy to write but Emma Larkins did a fantastic job, I am looking forward to reading more of her books.
Mechalarum is well-written and well-constructed sci-fi/fantasy. Though I wasn't too attached to any of the characters in particular, they were fully realized and existed in an interesting and thoroughly developed world. I recommend this to fans of novels that take place in post-apocalyptic/big brother-type futures.
What a pleasure to read Emma Larkin's beautifully realized Mechalarum! Kiellen is an engaging heroine, feisty and up to the task of finding out the truth about the Losh and the Serl, too. Not all is as it seems at first, and Kiellen encounters a number of friends and foes on her quest - and you never know who is who until the end. An exciting read you won't want to put down!
Can not wait for the next one!
